This Opportunity
WSP has a new opportunity for an experienced and motivated Lead Geological Engineer/Engineering Geologist to join the Geoscience Team in our Redmond, WA office. Seattle, WA office location will also be considered. The qualified candidate shall have broad skills in the field of applied geology and engineering geology, be registered as an Engineering Geologist, Engineer, or capable of obtaining their license in the State of Washington. The candidate will have a minimum of 7 or more years of experience in engineering consulting and 5 or more-year client development. The ideal candidate will have strong background in engineering geology and experience in planning and executing field exploration programs, writing proposals and reports, and managing client and project deliverables is highly desirable. The position requires effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated team leadership skills, a positive attitude, good business acumen and strong task management skills.

Your Impact
Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients by providing technical expertise, being responsive and providing quality and cost targeted consulting services
Plan and manage simple and complex subsurface field geologic exploration programs including drilling and test pit explorations
Provide final interpretation of soil, rock core, televiewer, and hole alignment data
Provide interpretation of subsurface conditions and develop conceptual geologic models
Review geologic samples and assign geologic unit identification, assign laboratory testing, and supervise the preparation of exploration records
Supervise and manage geologists to perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards
Proficiency with rock and soil logging processes and familiarity with rock mass characterization
Ability to act as liaison between geologists and other experts
Provide direction on the installation of monitoring wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP’s, inclinometers, transducers etc.)
Conduct geologic research, write, and review project proposals
Interpret geologic data and write and review geotechnical and geologic reports
Provide technical direction and oversight as well as mentoring and training to junior-level staff.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Must have valid LEG, PE, or LG in Washington state or ability to obtain it
Bachelor’s (B.S.) in Geology, Earth Sciences or Geological Engineering required, Master’s or PhD degree is strongly preferred
Minimum of 7 years of post- education related experience
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated client development/management
Experience managing simple to complex subsurface investigations including drilling, soil/rock classification, monitoring well installation and instrumentation
Project experience with development and/or associated geohazard projects
Candidates must be willing to work in the field conducting physically rigorous field geologic data collection in a variety of terrain and weather conditions
Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
Must have excellent communication and writing skills, with demonstrated report writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Broad experience in transportation, energy, mining and land development projects with both private and public entities
Existing strong client relationships in the above sectors
Track record of successful and strong business development activities
Experience with management of mid to large-size, multi-disciplinary projects
Specialized computer skills including database applications, AutoCAD, 3D modeling, GIS, Openground and/or gINT.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $114,700 - $154,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
