Amazon Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to be based in Seattle or HQ2 to fill the position of Corporate Counsel - AWS Security.

The role will primarily support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing service industry, providing IT infrastructure services, such as on-demand compute, storage, database, network and content delivery, artificial intelligence, mobile, and internet of things services, and more.

You'll be an integral part of the AWS Security team you support, giving input on business and strategy, in addition to providing legal counsel on a range of cutting-edge regulatory issues and operations related to cloud services and cybersecurity, including those associated with government demands for customer data, information and resource security, fraud investigations, and cybersecurity incident response. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly. Finally, you’ll get to work with engineers, service teams, and stakeholders across AWS, learning about the services we build and customers we support, with great visibility across the company and senior leaders.

A day in the life

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal experience

  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Security Clearance

  • Knowledge of and experience with the criminal investigative process, and laws related to government requests for data or Experience as a practicing attorney in privacy and/or cybersecurity regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work

  • Experience with technology, data privacy, cloud computing, or enterprise software systems

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Sound and practical business judgment

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
