Ellis Medicine Locksmith in Schenectady, New York

The Locksmith is responsible for maintaining the entire facilities lock and key system. Installs, maintains and repairs doors, locks, keys and other door or gate hardware, and complies and maintains related records. Uses a variety of small hand and bench tools to repair and install locks, lock set cylinders, changes lock combinations, manufactures parts of lock mechanisms and open jammed doors. Responsible for all smoke & fire door inspections and documentation of these inspections. Performs carpentry tasks such as installing doors and frames as well as modifying existing units related to the lock and key system installations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma required. Certified Locksmith required.

    Experience:

  • 3 years of Locksmith experience and 2 year of carpentry experience required.

  • On-call required and must be able to report to work when called in or when emergency situations arise.

  • Valid driver’s license to operate Hospital vehicles required.

    Certification:

  • Locksmith required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Responsible for maintaining the entire facilities lock and key system.

  • Installs, maintains and repairs doors, locks, keys and other door or gate hardware.

  • Complies and maintains related records in order to avoid key and lock duplication and to ensure the required security of the facility and its contents for the purposes of security systems and key control.

  • Installs and maintains electronic access control systems at all facilities.

  • Repairs and installs locks, lock set cylinders, changes lock combinations, manufactures part of lock mechanisms and open jammed doors using a variety of small hand and bench tools.

  • Responsible for changing safe combinations and maintaining list of combinations issued.

  • Responsible for all smoke, fire door inspections and documentation.

  • Performs carpentry tasks such as installing door and frames as well as modifying existing units related to the lock and key system installations.

  • Responsible for project work planning, proper layout, ordering materials and meeting scheduled deadlines.

  • Ensures work area is clean and safe.

  • Responsible for following safe work techniques, wears proper personal protective equipment and utilizes proper engineering controls.

  • Assists in reviewing and developing department policies and procedures.

  • Coaches, mentors and trains staff as needed.

  • Completes required training as assigned.

  • Complies with Hospital and department policies, work rules and requirements.

  • Adheres to patient privacy policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality.

  • Adheres to the Making Ellis Exceptional (MEE) Behaviors & Standards and AIDET (Acknowledge, Identify, Duration, Expectation, Thank) and initiate, promote, and support change initiatives.

    Salary Range: $17.46-$25.32/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
