The Director of Human Resources - Operations is responsible for leading and developing a team of HR field associates, who support all of our retail stores. As a strategic partner, the Director of Human Resources - Operations aligns business objectives with associates and leadership across retail, in partnership with home office HR team. Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs in the areas of strategy, policy, process, procedures, projects, compliance, and audits. Seeks to develop integrated solutions by communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management. Formulates partnerships across the HR function and other key functional areas of the brand to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives and values of the organization. Ensures policy and legal compliance, along with best practice. Provides strategic planning, development, and implementation of retail people goals. Collaborates and partners with peer home office human resource function leaders (talent, compensation, learning, employment, health and wellness, communications, etc.).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Key focus areas include: developing, maintaining, communicating and executing HR, policy, process, procedures, projects, compliance and audits at retail. This role, in partnership with their field team, are key touchpoints for retail on all aspects of the associate lifecycle.
Leads a team of HR field associates, ensuring application of HR operational practices are fair, legal, ethical, safe, and consistent across districts and divisions.
• Key partner for VPs of Retail Operations; provides strategic, proactive, and collaborative support to retail to resolve complex associate relations issues and/or helps to advance HR initiatives in these areas.
• Acts as associate advocate, ensuring people and the associate experience are a primary filter in any business decision we make.
• Practitioner and facilitator of retail business unit restructures and succession planning, providing counsel and guidance short and long-term.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners regularly with legal department as needed/required.
• Actively engages with and is well attuned to market & industry needs, as well as HR trends, ensuring their team and peers are well grounded on how this is evolving; Responsible for advocating and sharing these perspectives as they educate and guide their team, business partners, and process evolution.
• Provides advice, counsel, and recommendations to Retail Operations VPs on developing and maintaining a strong pro-associate culture, and all other HR best practices.
• Key member of the East and West Retail Operations leadership team; responsible for being an active voice for HR and our people strategies within these forums.
• Works closely with Leadership to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
• Maintains solid relationships with business partners to ensure services received and delivered are consistent with business needs.
• Uses technical knowledge to collaborate and effectively negotiate effective service flow.
• Brings together skills and talents of different people to achieve goals.
• Partners with HRBP Compliance to ensure policy review, practices, procedures, programs, and initiatives that are in alignment with Human Resource strategy and legal compliance expectations.
• Co-creates and delivers HR training and development programs to help strengthen consistency in retail HR operations and overall compliance.
• Promotes best practice approaches to human relations at retail.
• Represents HR on various business committees.
• Designs and delivers effective HR associate relations interventions on individual, group, and department level.
• Collaborates with HR professionals across the organization on projects, etc.
• Grows organizational capacity to address HR related topics and concerns in ways that ensure fairness, dignity, respect, consistency, and integrity.
• Role models organizational values, actively supports our business and people strategies.
Qualifications and Experience:
7-10 years of related HR leadership and people leadership experience
Strong working knowledge of federal and state regulations, labor laws including EEO and ADA compliance, FMLA, FLSA.
Bachelor's degree in a related area: Business, Human Resources etc.
Strong working knowledge and/or experience in retail operations
Preferred:
Master's degree in HR, Industrial Relations or another related field
Strong working knowledge and/or experience in retail grocery operations

The Salary Range for this Position is $139,120 - $208,680.
