Meet the Team
Cisco Global Supplier Management (GSM) team is seeking a motivated Supplier Commodity Manager for the "Interconnects" commodity. You will be part of a highly impactful and dynamic organization collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers enabling Cisco’s business.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing: Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, developing sourcing strategies, and selecting the best suppliers based on technology, price, quality, guarantee supply, supply flexibility, delivery time, and sustainability factors.
Supplier Management: Building strong business relationships with key suppliers (account team and executives), monitoring their performance, and addressing any issues. You will be meeting with the suppliers face to face on regular basis to stay engaged and informed on the new technology developments and supply chain.
Market Analysis: Tracking market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions to anticipate potential risks and opportunities. Identifying and prepare data driven industry sensing reports for the assigned technologies.
Commodity Strategy: Developing and executing on the agreed upon Commodity Strategy for the assigned technologies and suppliers. You will collaborate with Sourcing Commodity Managers, Product Operations, Business Units, Component Engineering, Design Engineering, Component Supply Planning, and others to develop the sourcing strategy. You will present and obtain the required approvals on the documented sourcing strategy.
Operational Management: Enabling the best industry cost, supply capacity, supply flexibility, best quality, material delivery as per the forecast, expedite material with the suppliers, cancel open orders, pushout open orders, track & report open financial liabilities to finance, maintain data accuracy, return to vendor inventory which is not needed/bad inventory, reimbursement, Last-time buys, Advance Purchases, Manage life cycle of the component, other operational activities which may be added in the future as per business requirements. Prepare reports and share with the management, as requested.
Negotiation & Request for Quote: Leading and delivering the Quarter over Quarter cost reductions. You will collaborate with the Sourcing Commodity Managers to obtain the list of the New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, size the incremental spend for the suppliers, and leverage that in your negotiation to enable additional cost savings for Cisco. Responsible to release the Request for Quote to the suppliers, using internal tools, obtaining the required information from the suppliers, validating the accuracy of the information provided by the suppliers, and assigning the split award in the internal tools by the given timeframe.
Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and complete the legal contracts, such as, Master Purchase Agreement, Statement of Work, Letter of Agreements and any other legal contracts with the suppliers. You will work closely with the legal team on the contract terms and conditions.
Supplier Development: Collaborate with the Sourcing Commodity Managers, Design Engineering, Business Units, Component Engineering, and Finance to develop the suppliers, which includes;
Supplier Selection & Evaluation: Choose suppliers that can meet Cisco’s supply chain needs. Assess the supplier's strengths and weaknesses using criteria like technology, innovation, cost, quality, supply capacity, financial health, sustainability, etc.
Identify Opportunities: Use the evaluation results to identify areas for improvement.
Develop a Plan & Monitor Performance: Build a plan for improving the supplier's performance, including deadlines for implementation. Track supplier’s performance.
Resiliency: Work with the suppliers to enable the Non-China Manufacturing location(s) to enable supply chain resiliency. You will take the lead role ensuring suppliers are providing the samples from their Alternate Manufacturing site(s) to Cisco/ Cisco CMs as per the schedule, testing completion by Cisco/Cisco CMs, successful qualification of the samples and ramp up of the production from the new alternate manufacturing site(s). Provide regular updates on the progress to the leadership.
Supplier Business Review: Collaborate with the cross-functional teams to prepare and deliver the data driven Supplier Business Review on Cost, Quality, Fulfilment, NPI Execution, Technology, Sustainability and other categories as per the business requirements.
Sustainability: Accountable to ensure suppliers are meeting the sustainability targets as per Cisco’s and industry standards with regards to Environmental (GHG), Responsible Minerals, and Responsible Business Alliance. Work with the internal sustainability team and suppliers to close on the open actions.
Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential supply chain risks, such as geopolitical instability, natural disasters, and supplier disruptions
Strategic Co-planning: Collaborate with the internal teams and suppliers to develop and implement strategic plans to meet Cisco’s forecasted and unforecasted demand.
Multi-Sourcing and Value Engineering: Identify the opportunities to multi-source the components to enable healthy cost competitiveness and supply flexibility. Work with the Sourcing Commodity Mangers, Component Engineering and Business Units on the execution.
Lead-time Optimization: Work with the suppliers to optimize the component lead-time to reduce Cisco’s financial liabilities. Report the new lead-time to the internal teams. Manage metrics.
Advance Purchases, Risk Buy-Orders, Last Time Buys: Work with the internal teams to collect the Advance Purchase, Risk-Buy Orders and Last-time buys requirements. You will be responsible to document the requirements as per the process, obtain required approvals and execute. You will be responsible for documenting the open financial liabilities and reporting to finance.
Initiatives/Projects: Lead and participate in organization initiatives/projects as required by the organization. This includes process and tool improvements. Time to time You will be required to participate in the User Acceptance testing to test and validate the tools and reports.
Supplier White Paper: Accountable to draft the executive supplier White Paper as required by the leadership team.
Other Future Business responsibilities may be added later as per business requirements for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of cross-functional Supply Chain experience
Experience evaluating market trends, supplier data, and ability to translate to business outcomes.
5+ years of proven experience negotiating and communicating with suppliers.
5+ years of experience in Global Supplier Management
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, supply chain management, economics, or a related field
Relevant certifications contract management, or supply chain
Previous experience in commodity management, or supply chain operations
Thorough understanding of commodity markets, price fluctuations, and factors influencing market dynamics
