Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$79.346 - $102.382 - $125.418

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

This role will function as a bridge between our Onsite Pharmacy teams at our different hospitals and our System Pharmacy teams. This role will support our pharmacy teams with existing technologies and applications.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 Years Experience in a hospital environment

  • California Pharmacist License - CA State Board of Pharmacy -REQUIRED

Essential Functions

  • CommunicationProvides input to Pharmacy and I.S. Management status reports. When appropriate, presents related pharmacy information systems issues and improvement measures to appropriate organizational committees.Networks with colleagues at external institutions to maintain awareness of best practices, system experience and implementation of the latest technologies.Uses appropriate language to communicate technical issues to non-technical users/clients.Participates in advisory groups, multi-site design or multidisciplinary teams, focus groups, task forces, or other designated activities that will further the development of optimal pharmacy information systems and the practice of pharmacy.

  • Professional developmentContinually assesses new improved technology that may assist pharmacy staff in providing quality clinical and distributive care. Provides consultative planning and assists implementation of new services/programs related to information services. Assists in the coordination of the selection, development, implementation, outcomes analysis, reporting, and maintenance of pharmacy information system technologies.Demonstrates competency in efficiently and quickly identifying valuable resources (information, people, etc.), practice precedents/models, both internal and external to SHC.Maintains thorough knowledge of the impact of automated Pharmacy/IS methodologies on the legal, ethical, managerial, and organizational principles and standards for acute general hospital and health systems in California. Assists in ensuring that the organization meets all JCAHO, DHS, and CMA expectations in regards to pharmacy information systems.

  • Project managementAssists Pharmacy and Information Systems Management in determining the needs of Pharmacy and its customers. Obtains input of service providers. Uses formal measurements when formulating advice to Pharmacy and institutional management.Coordinates a matrix of several simultaneous projects using appropriate prioritization, timing, and creativity such that projects are completed on time and within resource constraints.Assists Pharmacy / I.S. Management in supporting the operational and clinical activities of Pharmacy Services. This is to include compendium tailoring resolutions that provides optimum support to pharmacy and organization, communication of new / revised pharmacy information system programming.Takes into account the principles of interdisciplinary integration and alignment with corporate goals.

  • Teaching and mentoringTeaches and mentors pharmacy students to impart knowledge of pharmacy informatics as a specialty area of pharmacy practice.Demonstrates inter-relationships between administrative, clinical and informatics initiatives.Helps prepare future pharmacists for institutional care practice in general.Works closely with the Sharp student coordinator and the schools of pharmacy to insure adherence to teaching guidelines, learning objectives and documentation.

  • TrainingCoordinates and provides educational in-services and training of designated users in system functions and operations in order to maximize user effectiveness. Provides ongoing review and assessment of user training needs and performs or arranges training as required.Promotes and assists in the coordination of staff development / education of information system programs. Assists with the coordination and presentation of formal needs-based education.Assists Pharmacy Services in keeping up to date on pharmacy information systems changes, including but not limited to physician order entry, bar code technology, web based interventional programs, data base storage / search applications and other specific Pharmacy practice applications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A thorough knowledge of computer systems and/or systems analysis and/or data processing type activities desired.

  • Computer skills are highly desirable, especially in the application of word processing, and spreadsheet and database creation and management.
