Job Description:
This is an electrical engineering design position responsible for developing hardware within the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) Segment of L3Harris. This team, located in the San Diego, CA facility, is responsible for the design, build, and validation of custom tactical transceivers.
Typical Job Duties:
Lead Team of Test engineers in the development of STEs (Specialized Test Equipement)
Review product specifications and interface control documents
Collaborate with Project Engineer to determine STE Requirements and Test Methods
Develop high level STE Design Approach
Detailed System Level Block Diagrams
Identify Ideal Test Equipment (Oscilliscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Power Meters, Power Supplies, etc).
Develop STE hardware, software, and firmware requirements Manage STE Design and Build schedules
Author progress reports, schedule updates and Estimates to Complete (EACs) for both IR&D and contract development projects.
Track STE requirements changes and ensure design meets/exceeds requirements
Provide guidance to Test Engineers in the detailed design and build of STEs
Work with Software/Firmware engineers to develop solutions
Write STE Verification Test procedures.
Participate in design reviews to help improve product testability
Qualifications:
BSEE/BSCE degree and a minimum of 9 years of relevant industry experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of relavant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
7+ years National Instruments LabView development.
5+ years hardward testing experience with electronic parts and systems in analog, digital, and RF environments
Experience working with detailed schematics, firmware and software design
Experience with lab and test measurement tools including Oscilliscoes, Signal Generators, Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Power Sensors.
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Working knowledge of RF fundamentals and communication theory.
Skilled at preparing meeting materials and presenting them to an audience with varied technical background.
Experience leading a cross-functional engineering development team
Familiarity with Xilinx, Microsemi, or Altera FPGA design software and VHDL/Verilog.
National Instruments TestStand programming experience.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $122,500.00 - $227,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
