Microsoft Corporation Data Center Program Manager, Logistics in San Antonio, Texas

As a Microsoft Data Center Program Manager, Logistics , you will perform trouble shooting for service incidents, manage assigned projects to meet service delivery objectives as well escalate to appropriate stakeholders to remove obstacles. You will also follow safety policies and procedures and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of incidents. This job will allow you to build a solid understanding of data center procedures, engage in collarobation across various teams as well as provide mentorship across data centers by sharing best practices.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DCPM, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

  • Ensure that logistics standard operating procedures and risk assessments are in place, and assist in their creation.

  • Creating and managing end-to-end project plans and ensuring on time delivery.

  • Plan, schedule, and execute projects and site deliverables in alignment with deployment timelines and required site readiness dates across the metro.

  • Supporting the decommission efforts across the metro

  • Plan, manage, and communicate end-to-end project plans with stakeholders and teams.

  • Track and take action on shipment incidents and escalate as needed to meet deadlines.

  • Keep workflows up to date as it pertains to IAM.

  • Support deployment teams with last-mile courier communications.

  • Schedule and coordinate deployment materials transfers between data centers.

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of cables and consumables.

  • Manage our vehicle and Equipment program for the metro

  • Calculate materials and consumables needs and request quotes.

  • Collaborate with others DCPM to accommodate scheduling needs and resources to support projects outside of deployment and decommission.

  • Share expertise and provide guidance on standard logistics processes and procedures for preparing, planning, and performing deployments.

  • Collaborate with others DCPM to ensure that work is appropriately prioritized and that resources and team capabilities are in place for deployments.

  • Prioritize data center workload with the logistics team to maximize response and resolution of receiving, replacement, and return merchandise authorization requests, meeting service level agreements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 1+ years program management and logistics experience

  • OR 2+ years program management and logistics experience and college course work.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS (Uninterruptible Power Systems), Generator, AHU (Air Handling Unit)) or working in physical IT (Information Technology) infrastructures (e.g., Servers, Networking, Capacity, DC (Datacenter) Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling)

  • Technical College degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • Applicable certifications: ASICS (Inventory Control), CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association), Microsoft, Network Certifications, PMP (Project Management Professional), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional).

Data Center Operations Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $80,000 - $159,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,000 - $180,000 per year.
