University of Utah Post Doc Res Assoc in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
The Roy Lab at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah is seeking a motivated and talented postdoc to work on projects aimed at studying cell-type specific visual processing in the retina. Research in the lab focused on unraveling the molecular and signaling pathways, and cell-types, involved in retinal functions such as light adaptation and feature encoding. The lab is also investigating the molecular and signaling mechanisms underlying cell death and vision loss in glaucoma. The lab utilizes different model systems (rodents and tree shrew) for studying retinal functions and disease pathology. The studies involve a wide range of techniques such as large-scale electrophysiological recordings and fluorescence light-sheet and 2p recordings from ex-vivo retina, viral vectors, opto/chemogenetics, cellular/molecular assays and computational modeling. The lab is multidisciplinary, collegial, and collaborative. The candidate is expected to have excellent scientific and problem-solving abilities. The position encourages creative and independent thinking, collaborative work, and translational research. The lab has several ongoing collaborations that offer opportunities to contribute to other projects, and acquire new experimental and computational skills. The candidate will receive training and career development support from the PI.
