Learning Assistants are expected to attend an assigned section of a math class to assist students with activities, attend paid trainings, tutor students outside of class, attend a weekly meeting with other SLCC Learning Assistants, and attend a weekly pedagogy class. Expected time to be 10-15 hours total per week.

· Attend classes with students to establish connection/bonding with the instructors and the students and assist with classroom activities. · Provide quality learning assistance to students enrolled in an assigned section of a math class. · Assist instructors with one-on-one planning meetings to ensure that students are remaining engaged and absorbing material. · Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, and build confidence in students. · Work with students in groups providing support and structure in project-based assignments and work with math manipulative classroom aides · Teach students study skills, note-taking techniques and test-taking strategies as needed · Participate in training, development opportunities and other events when available. · Maintain regular communication with your supervisor and other Learning Assistants

There will also be a required weekly meeting with the instructor and other Learning Assistants. Learning Assistants can set their own schedule for tutoring students outside of class time.
