State of Utah - Jobs Journey Maintenance/Construction Special in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

[The Utah State Hospital is hiring for a Journey Maintenance/ Construction Specialist in our Support Services Department. There is 1 position available.  *Principal Duties The Journey Maintenance/ Construction Specialist performs a wide variety of skilled maintenance duties requiring independent ability to organize and complete maintenance projects. Duties include troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing issues in the following areas:  *]{#isPasted}

  • Appliances
  • Roofing
  • Grounds work
  • Painting
  • Plumbing
  • Snow removal
  • Locks

*Responsibilities *

  • Provide technical consultation to originators of project job orders, including development of project plans and related estimates. 
  • Build, fabricate, or repair structures, equipment, and/or miscellaneous articles from verbal instructions, blueprints and/or working drawings. 
  • Have the ability to use a variety of hand tools, electrical, mechanical, and automotive equipment. 
  • Perform emergency preparedness planning. 
  • Read and interpret maps, plats, charts, plans, blueprints and/or electrical schematics. 

*Minimum Requirements *

  • Ability to perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance/ construction duties 
  • Ability to maintain compliance with applicable codes

  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer knowledge
  • Excellent time management skills 
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Must be willing to be on-call with 24-hour availability

Qualifications

  • Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working at grea t heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, being subject to possible physical attack, etc.
  • The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
