We are currently seeking a Financial Analysis Manager to lead the Profitability Analytics team within the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) department.

The FP&A division is focused on developing talent that will enable our organization’s long-term success by improving balance sheet returns, growing fee income, controlling expenses, and gaining efficiencies through process improvement and automation. FP&A works with the brightest minds in the organization who foster a culture of continuous learning and growth, there is executive and board-level visibility and support for our work, and our efforts translate directly into highly visible, enterprise-wide initiatives. We are laser focused on creating value and are seeking like-minded professionals to join our team.

The Financial Analysis Manager will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing multiple financial models that enable the bank to analyze profitability – by account, customer, product, segment and more – to help inform strategic decisions and drive results. The primary two models are funds transfer pricing (FTP) and expense allocation.

Funds transfer pricing calculates the funding cost of assets and the funding benefit of liabilities on the bank’s balance sheet, effectively transferring interest rate risk management to units and officers of the bank. The calculation of FTP uses both Empyrean ALM and SQL. The manager is responsible for performing this process monthly, as well as evaluating and implementing potential model changes to more accurately account for risk and encourage desired behavior.

Expense allocation is a model that allocates the bank’s noninterest expense to the banking units and products that it supports, allowing for a clearer picture of relative efficiency across the bank. The manager is responsible for enhancing this SQL-based model to more precisely direct allocated expense flows; this requires a deep understanding of the structure, operations and products of the bank. Effective visualization of this process for end users is also essential.

The candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting materials to the FTP Committee, an executive-level committee charged with the governance of interest rate risk management via funds transfer pricing. In addition to committee responsibilities, the candidate will communicate daily with employees at all levels, from bank officers to executive management, and must be able to tailor responses on complex financial concepts to audiences with varying degrees of understanding and different perspectives.

The candidate will be responsible for managing and developing a team of three Financial Analysts, empowering them to take ownership of key production processes.

Requirements:

• Experience using SQL to query and manipulate large data sets

• Specific knowledge of relational databases and general knowledge of data warehouse processes

• Intermediate or higher-level knowledge of banking products and financial statements

• Experience with complex financial models and concepts

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to find creative solutions to previously unsolved data and reporting problems

• A desire and an ability to find ways to continually improve processes and drive efficiency

• Experience with process documentation, data validation and testing, and technical writing

• Experience using Power BI or similar data visualization tools to build meaningful, complex reporting with optimized data models is a plus

• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps or other low-code automation tools is a plus

• Familiarity with Oracle EPM or other financial planning software is a plus

• Experience managing employees is a plus

Qualifications:

• 6-8+ years of related work experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (computer science, statistics, finance, etc.) is required

• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline may substitute for experience
