What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health

Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.

Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.

Cardinal Health is looking for a highly qualified Tech Lead/Senior Engineer for a next generation and mission critical e-Commerce platform which replaces a monolithic platform. The ideal candidate should be technically hands on and someone who can grow and nurture talent in the team.

Responsibilities

  • Work with different teams to understand the requirements, landscape, technical limitations, possibilities and translate them into technical designs.

  • Work with Enterprise architecture teams, external teams to drive architectural decisions within the organization.

  • Design highly scalable, maintainable & resilient software products, that act as solutions to business problems.

  • Hands on technical design, development and review of solutions along with product development

  • Independently able to develop code and integrate with existing solutions

  • Avoid technical debt in the organization and/or create and drive a game plan for the existing technical debt.

  • Involve in team code-reviews and ensure good development practices are kept in the source code.

  • Diligently work with deployment leads to supplying inputs for deployment plan, technical limitations.

  • Work closely with all project stake holders during workshops, technical and design review sessions.

  • Develop prototypes to confirm a solution and create high-performance robust production applications.

  • Document best practices of design and coding, and ensure it is followed by the teams.

  • Coach/guide/mentor teams by driving good engineering practices and improve the maturity of the team.

  • Understand business and technical requirements from various stakeholders.

  • Engineering practices to drive consistent delivery.

Qualifications

  • 8-12 years of experience total with at least 5+ years as a lead developer/tech lead, preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred

  • Experience using technologies such as Java Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Node.js, NoSQL and SQL databases, SQS, Angular, React and RESTful APIs in an event driven microservice architecture.

  • Experience with SAP, Boomi, Kafka integration or similar technology.

  • Experience with Data modeling with Relational and No-SQL Databases.

  • Hands on experience with computing technologies like GCP or AWS (Amazon Web Services).

  • Proven experience working with all layers of application development.

  • Experience with distributed computing and message-based systems preferred.

  • Must have experience in doing code reviews, writing unit test cases with Junit and Jest, and working closely with all stakeholders involved in product engineering.

  • Experience with HCL Commerce, Coveo Search/Any search engine, Adobe Experience cloud is preferred.

  • Experience building build & deploy CI/CD pipelines using GITHUB, Jenkins, or Concourse including security scans (like Veracode) and code coverage tooling (like SonarQube)

  • Experience in Agile (Scrum) project methodologies.

  • Exposure to eCommerce and healthcare domain is a plus

Anticipated salary range: $121,600 - $173,700
