Olmsted Medical Center Perinatal Educator in Rochester, Minnesota

Description PRN - Shifts Vary Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in health-related/education field Office management and scheduling skills Strong interpersonal skills Presentation and team facilitation experience Computer skills to include, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint - ability to learn additional database programs Good oral and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Able to multi-task with staff and programming needs Supervisory skills to lead and motivate team Understanding of interdepartmental work Facilitate conflict resolution process as needed BLS certification within 90 days of hire Job Responsibilities: Facilitates the development and maintenance of perinatal education curriculum from early pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and early parenting for mothers, newborns, and their family systems. Supports and equips all perinatal educators to teach class material. Provides direct education to patients and their families. Provides education and promotion of OMC BirthCenter to Rochester and surrounding communities. Coordinates office hours, staffing, and activities for Prenatal & Family Education Office. Develops, staffs, and maintains scheduling of classes and instructors for programming provided for expectant parents year-round. Coordinates new perinatal educator orientation to Prenatal & Family Education programs and classes. Coordinates and assists with new employee orientation in regard to Prenatal & Family Education classes and labor support education. Evaluates current programming and facilitates revisions. Coordinates interdepartmental teamwork as programming expands. Liaison to branch clinic on perinatal topics, education support, and resources. Participates in multidisciplinary team to coordinate breastfeeding and perinatal education needs.
