We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role involves utilizing AutoCAD and Revit to lead and design HVAC projects across various markets including healthcare, K-12, higher education, commercial, and government projects. The ideal candidate will prepare reports, cost estimates, specifications, perform calculations, select equipment for specification, and prepare construction documents for bidding. Additionally, the role includes analysis, field investigation, and forensic investigation as needed. The Mechanical Engineer will also represent the company in communications with clients, architects, sub-consultants, contractors, and other project design team members.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to lead and design HVAC projects within healthcare, K-12, higher education, commercial, and government markets.

  • Prepare reports, cost estimates, specifications, perform calculations, select equipment for specification, and prepare construction documents for bidding.

  • Conduct analysis, field investigation, and forensic investigation as needed.

  • Represent the company in communications with clients, architects, sub-consultants, contractors, and other project design team members.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

  • Experience with Trane Trace

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 5-10 years of experience

  • EIT or PE certification in the State of Virginia

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience within the healthcare space is preferred but not required

  • LEED Accreditation preferred but not required

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Thursday from 7AM to 5PM with an hour for lunch, and Friday from 7AM to 11AM. The role offers exposure to healthcare, higher education, and government projects. Employees will primarily work from home for the foreseeable future but may occasionally visit the office to print designs, meet with the team, or clients. Travel to project sites is not required at this time. The position allows for flexibility to work from either the Richmond or Hampton Roads office depending on the candidate's location. Initially, the candidate will spend 40 hours a week on design work, which will later reduce to 20-25 hours a week as they build client relationships, with the remaining time dedicated to project management. Work is primarily based in Richmond and Hampton Roads areas, and candidates in Richmond will help shape the office culture as the team grows.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
