Summary The position is located in the Facilities Management Service and is responsible for the supervision and operation of the Electrical/Electronic Shop. The Electrician Supervisor reports to the Maintenance and Repair Supervisor. Serves as the supervisor of the electrical and electronics section, exercising technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers. Responsibilities Responsible for the management, supervision, planning, overseeing, and training of the Electric and Electronic Shops. The incumbent is responsible for shop administration, leadership, and guidance. Determines labor and material costs for maintenance and repairs, minor improvements, maintenance contracts, and alterations. Prepares cost estimates for jobs and long-range programs, investigates work requests and suggestions, and makes necessary contacts to gather needed information. Maintains a program for preventive maintenance of expendable/non-expendable equipment, and personal property. Coordinates preventive maintenance (PM) with shop personnel to establish PM procedures, estimated labor and -material costs, frequency of PMs, and criticality levels. Evaluates electrical systems to assure sufficient capacity for smooth functioning of the facility and compliance with Joint Commission Environment of Care Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) codes and standards, National Electric Code (NEC), and local operating procedures. Interprets complex blueprints and specifications and furnishes technical details and information if not readily available or understood by subordinates. Troubleshoots complex mechanical and electronic equipment systems, at times without the aid of any technical documentation or maintenance manuals. Must be knowledgeable in the applicable areas of personnel management, Affirmative Action Plans, the EEO program, and the Merit Promotion Policies. Responsible for oversight of all maintenance contracts for the Electric and Electronic Shop Sections including development of new contracts and administration of existing contracts. Initiates 2237's for repairs to be completed by outside vendors. Monitors construction practices and directs the. attention of contractors and contracting officer's representatives to any deviation from the contract or standard practices. Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on maintenance contracts. The duty of the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) is to ensure that the government receives all that it has bargained for. A COR must be appointed for Architecture and Engineer, construction, hazmat contracts exceeding $25,000, all healthcare contracts for services, and multi-year service contracts. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The Electrician makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, requiring considerable standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and kneeling; works in tiring and uncomfortable positions; frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools and equipment. Incumbent must be able to lift and/or carry 75 pounds. The incumbent works inside and outside of the Medical Center. Work is usually dirty, dusty, hot, cold, greasy, and noisy, and is sometimes performed during inclement weather. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, burns, and is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises Education Additional Information This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies.
