About Richmond State Hospital :
Richmond State Hospital is about the people we serve and the community relationships we have developed dating back to 1890. Richmond State Hospital is a public behavioral health facility operated by the state of Indiana and one of six state psychiatric hospitals within the Family and Social Services Administration Division of Mental Health and Addiction. As part of a newly integrated system of state psychiatric hospitals, we serve consumers across the state as the Eastern Center of Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Services.

The hospital clinical and medical leadership collaborate with the unit treatment teams to provide the most contemporary and comprehensive care possible.
Role Overview:
This position will perform supervisory, administrative, and technical work in the maintenance and repair operations at Richmond State Hospital.
Planning schedules for short-term daily and weekly projects based on priorities and deadlines.
Assign and delegate work to your team, spot checking routine work, and making sure safety procedures are being followed.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local rules, regulations, i.e. IOSHA & NFPA regarding work safety, and fire systems.
Will oversee the fire system and the emergency generators for the facility and respond to emergency needs as they arise.
Install, inspect, repair, and maintain the electrical, plumbing, sewage, mechanical, and other related systems at Richmond State Hospital.
Recruit, evaluate, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing corrective actions and opportunities to continue professional development.
Advanced knowledge of the tools, methods, practices, materials and equipment used in maintenance.
Making sure that assets assigned are accounted for.
Ability to lead a multi-discipline team both as a supervisor and in a technical capacity.
Maintain operational systems to monitor and track work orders, preventative maintenance logs and safety reports.
You will work with supervisors, subordinate staff, agency staff and vendors. You may also have contact with the patients at the hospital.
Blueprint and schematic reading are necessary.
Project management as assigned.
This role requires the ability to operate a motor vehicle and /or heavy equipment, tow motors, and aerial lifts.
This role will take on-call rotation as well as directly supervise the Electric shop and its staff members.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Plan the short-term daily and weekly work schedules based on priorities and deadlines.
Establish schedules and methods for providing facility and maintenance services.
Identify resource needs, review needs with appropriate management staff, and allocate resources.
Assign and delegate work to subordinates, spot check routine work, and review more complex or unusual projects.
Maintain operational systems to monitor and track work orders, preventative maintenance logs, safety reports, etc.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and standard trade practices related to quality standards.
Regularly inspect property for safety and security concerns.
Install, inspect, repair, and maintain the electrical, plumbing, sewage, mechanical, and other related systems in facility locations.
Inspect, operate, and maintain the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems (including boiler system) in all facility locations.
Order, prepare specifications, and purchase supplies, equipment, and contract work according to required purchasing and bidding procedures.
Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
Three (3) years of experience in maintenance, construction, or related experience. Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience in these areas.
Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
Advanced knowledge of variety of trades related to installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and other related systems in all facility locations.
Advanced knowledge of the tools, methods, practices, materials, and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades.
Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules governing repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities.
Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
Thorough knowledge of and ability to understand and interpret detailed plans and specifications.
Ability to make long-range plans, schedule preventative maintenance and seasonal maintenance, and prioritize routine and emergency repairs.
Estimate repair and construction project costs.
Ability to lead a multi-discipline team both as supervisor and in a technical capacity.
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
