Responsibilities
Ascension, one of the largest non-profit healthcare systems in the U.S., is seeking a Director of Digital Product Analytics to lead the digital product analytics team within Ascension’s Growth Marketing & Digital Experience (GMDx) group. This role balances 60% leadership and team management with 40% individual contribution. You will manage & lead a team of analysts while also contributing your expertise to complex analytics initiatives. Your work will enable fast, quality decision-making across our digital product portfolio, aligning metrics and insights with business outcomes to improve patient experiences and support Ascension’s mission to enhance health and access to care for individuals and communities.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management (60%)
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Senior Director of Research and Analytics to define and communicate the vision for Digital Product Analytics, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and enterprise-wide strategies.
Team Development: Manage and mentor a team of analytics professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Provide individualized development plans to support professional growth.
Standardization & Governance: Establish and enforce organizational standards for KPIs, reporting, statistical methodologies, and data governance. Design, implement, and oversee analytics operations to embed consistent frameworks across teams.
Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, Research, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure analytics insights inform strategic roadmaps and align with business outcomes – all the while helping them become more data and outcomes-driven.
Experimentation Governance: In partnership with UX Research, Engineering, and Product teams, establish standards and best practices for experimentation design, including A/B testing methodologies, ensuring consistent application across digital products.
Capacity & Workflow Management: Oversee backlog prioritization, capacity planning, and task assignment, ensuring the team operates efficiently and delivers high-impact results.
Scalability & Efficiency: Drive the adoption of scalable processes for data preparation, reporting, and analysis to enhance team productivity and alignment.
Technical & Individual Contribution (40%)
KPI Development: Develop and refine frameworks for defining, standardizing, and maintaining KPIs that align product features with measurable business outcomes.
Data Analysis & Insights: Conduct complex data analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable insights. Translate findings into clear recommendations that directly impact business objectives.
Experimentation: Design, implement, and evaluate A/B and multivariate tests. Establish scalable experimentation frameworks and robust experimental designs, ensuring statistical rigor and validity to optimize product performance and user experiences. Provide guidance and mentorship on best practices in experimental design and analysis.
Data Visualization: Design and maintain dashboards and visualizations tailored to stakeholder needs, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational priorities.
Statistical Analysis: Execute advanced statistical analyses, including regression modeling, time series forecasting, and impact evaluation. Provide mentorship on statistical best practices.
Predictive Modeling: Build and validate predictive models to inform roadmaps and improve forecasting accuracy. Communicate results to stakeholders effectively.
Experimentation: Design and evaluate A/B and multivariate tests. Establish scalable experimentation frameworks to optimize product performance and user experiences.
Data Governance & Quality: Contribute to data governance initiatives, including dataset cataloging, quality assurance, and compliance with organizational standards.
Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.
Additional Preferences
Bachelor or Master’s degree in related field such as: statistics, data science, computer science, information systems, economics, mathematics, Business Administration (MBA) (with significant analytics coursework).
Minimum 7 years experience, preferred 10 years, in digital product analytics or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams.
Demonstrated expertise in aligning metrics, analyses, and insights to business goals and outcomes for digital products.
Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
Familiar with design (UX) research methodology and experience working with design (UX) research teams.
Extensive experience & advanced proficiency in digital product analytics solutions such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, and Heap.
Advanced proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau), SQL, Python/R, and statistical methods (e.g., regression analysis, clustering, time series).
Strong understanding of predictive modeling, experimentation techniques, and advanced analytics methods.
Expertise in data wrangling, governance, and creating scalable ETL processes. Experience with enterprise platforms such as GCP, Snowflake, or similar systems.
Proven ability to distill complex analytics findings into concise, actionable insights for senior stakeholders, including strong abilities with data visualization.
Demonstrated success in managing high-performing teams, driving cross-functional alignment, and fostering a results-oriented culture.
Strong understanding of business concepts such as customer lifetime value, acquisition cost, ROI, and forecasting methodologies.
