Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture (EA) is the interconnected domains of business, information, application, infrastructure, and security architectures that collectively implement the business capabilities required to accomplish business goals. Ascension Technologies Enterprise Architecture’s vision is to:

Ascension Technologies is seeking a Consultant Principal Architect to join the Enterprise Architecture team focused Architecture Governance, Architecture Board, Architecture Backlog Management, Modelling, Knowledge Management, Brainstorming Workshops. The successful candidate will manage one or two Enterprise architects and partner with the business and other Ascension Technologies teams, bringing broad healthcare experience, strong architecture and technology knowledge, thought leadership and ability to deliver in a complex healthcare organization possessing a highly complex and diverse technology ecosystem.
Job Description:
Working collaboratively, the candidate will lead Enterprise Architecture focus Architecture EA Planning, EA Processes, Governance, Architecture Board, Architecture Backlog Management, Modelling, Knowledge Management, Brainstorming Workshops and evangelizing the value and outcomes of Enterprise architecture
The candidate will partner with Executive Leadership and Architecture Domain Leaders to enable success. They will also provide Executive Level Consulting and Guidance to Ascension senior leadership leveraging value-added scientifically based and technologically sound business and technology based insights and experience.
Working with other architects, the candidate provides consulting support to ensure that potential solutions being designed are platform oriented, decomposable, decoupled and fit into the broader service-oriented architecture landscape and technology ecosystem, meeting defined Enterprise Architecture standards.
The candidate also drives efforts to modernize technology platforms and systems, simplify application inventory to standardize technology solutions as well as reduce the overall technology portfolio based on key performance metrics and other business drivers.
The candidate works closely with Executive Leadership, Tower Architect Leaders and Lead Portfolio Architects and external sources as required. They provide education and insights on Emerging Technologies, AI and Cloud Technologies to foster broad awareness and leverage within existing and future initiatives and architecture efforts, where appropriate. They employ architecture design best practices including mentoring other architects to advance overall skill sets, knowledge and maturity.

Supports Enterprise Architecture leadership in periodic updates and presentations to Ascension Technologies Executive teams and Ascension leadership forums on a broad array of topics, strategies and focus areas
Leverages detailed Points of View (POV), employing a domain centric collaborative approach, providing architectural perspective and technology pattern recommendations for various Enterprise Architecture initiatives and other significant bodies of work as needed
Compares and contrasts different enterprise level architecture configurations and patterns based on business value, operational resilience and cost considerations
Supports the creation of strategic roadmaps that sequence technology initiatives based on business priorities and technical dependencies, aligning to the overall enterprise strategy
Provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for Architecture Review Board (ARB) Governance and Standards including serving as an AT representative on organization AI governance bodies and forums
Supports ad hoc Special Projects as assigned
Possesses strong architecture modeling skills, experienced in leveraging Enterprise Architecture (EA) data models. Demonstrated ability to develop various diagrams and visuals leveraging data sets within the EA data model
Applies critical thinking for the development of nuanced architecture views to meet specific needs given complexities of the existing technology ecosystem, providing actionable insights
Applies strong expertise in multiple areas of architecture, including:
Business Architecture
Information & Data Architecture
Application Architecture
Technology Architecture
Security Architecture
Responsible for architecting solutions crossing multiple domains or business areas
Works closely with partners inside and outside IT and across business communities in understanding and assessing technology requirements, identifying potential technology solutions, always assessing existing technology investments as a first step
Participates in cross-functional teams for developing and implementing new architectural patterns and standards. Works in conjunction with Enterprise Applications & Platforms, Data Delivery & Governance, Security, Legal, Compliance, Infrastructure, Product Engineering and other areas as necessary

Establish and ensure system architecture and best practices of solutions with a strong focus on cloud platforms, AI/Gen AI, commercial systems and digital initiatives. This includes acting as the thought leader in driving and understanding customers’ end to end solutions on an enterprise scale and defining technology and processes that enable digital transformation
Strong understanding of technology platforms and modern technologies/approaches to drive technology that is innovative, competitive, secure and resilient
Exceptional communicator and presenter with excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to lead and influence cross functional teams to deliver and meet organizational needs in compressed timeframes
Ability to quickly evaluate options, unlock enterprise challenges, make technology recommendations, and recommend solutions within a diverse technology environment with multiple stakeholders inside customers’ environments
Ability to communicate broad business initiatives and translate them into measurable objectives and concrete goals for other architects
Familiarity with working in an agile-based environment
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Comfortable working with ambiguity and gray spaces.
Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, prioritization and relationship management skills
Strong critical thinking, problem solving, conflict management and decision making skills
Ability to manage multiple work commitments, producing high quality work products under pressure and within deadlines
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
5 years of experience required.
10 years of experience preferred.
Additional Preferences
Must have experience at a large technology products and services organization
Five or more years experience in an information technology discipline with increasing responsibility
Healthcare IT experience is highly preferred, ideally encompassing a broad range of business areas, care delivery settings, including related processes, integration and solution exposure
Product Model and Agile experience preferred (at scale)
Familiarity with The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and architecture modeling tools (e.g. Abacus, IBIS, Orbus iServer, MEGA, LeanIX, etc.)
