Description
We are offering an opportunity for a Controller to join our client's team in Redwood City, California. As part of a dynamic team in the life science and biotech industry, you will play a crucial role in managing financial operations and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SEC regulations.
Ensure that the financial reports are accurate, complete, and aligned with the company's goals.
Review and analyze financial performance, providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
Manage the quarterly earnings process, ensuring timely and accurate filings with the SEC (10-Q, 10-K), and support the CFO in managing investor relations.
Manage the accrual process for late-stage clinical trials, ensuring that clinical trial expenses are accurately captured and recorded in the financial statements.
Work closely with the clinical operations team to understand trial progress and forecast future costs, ensuring proper timing and accuracy of accrual entries.
Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance requirements, and manage internal and external audits.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is required.
Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a public biotech or life sciences company.
Extensive experience with NetSuite ERP, including reporting, system optimization, and integration.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance.
Proven experience managing financial audits and working with external auditors.
Experience with clinical trial accounting and accruals, particularly for late-stage clinical trials, is required.
