The Azure Security team is the key team focused on building tools and applications that ensure that the foundation of Microsoft cloud business has rock-solid security, meeting highest industry bar, and is evolving as threats landscape evolves.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with networking background to help build state-of-the-art security systems to protect the perimeter of cloud services. You would be working in an exciting and fast-paced environment, collaborating with multiple teams across organizations, building cloud services, and security systems that protect our Azure and Microsoft Cloud. You would collaborate across multiple organizations at Microsoft to build next generation systems to improve perimeter security for cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on in the development process which includes assisting with the authoring and reviewing of designs, writing and reviewing production code, and supporting our live services

  • Be able to think strategically, work pragmatically and with enthusiasm in a fast-moving environment with few guardrails

  • Have customer empathy and an ability to focus our engineering efforts on customer requirements as well as Microsoft’s business priorities

  • Work with senior and principal engineers in a specific feature area, collaborate with peers, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience building maintainable and reliable, distributed systems and cloud services.

Other Requirements:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications :

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience

• Experience in cloud development principles and patterns, particularly loosely coupled architectures and micro-services

• Technical knowledge of cloud-native compute, storage and networking aspects along with exposure to orchestration technologies & CI/CD tools.

• Collaboration skills with ability to develop key partnerships

• Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP or public cloud offerings

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
