ABOUT THE ROLE

As a CBRE Senior Building Engineer, you will be responsible for performing sophisticated preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs and installations of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and/or HVAC/R (refrigeration) equipment, machinery and controls located in the interior and exterior of buildings. Working under general direction, supervises building system operations and performance. Has critical, niche knowledge required at client site.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

  • Schedule/Shift: 4 day / 10 hour

  • Monday - Thursday (5AM - 2:30PM)

  • Must live within designated radius of the job site to reliably work schedule/shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.

  • Operates, maintains, monitors, and performs preventive and predictive maintenance on building equipment, which may include: mechanical/HVAC-R/plumbing systems, electrical/cabling, fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems.

  • Maintains the professional appearances of the property, equipment, engineering spaces, and common areas.

  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.

  • Prepares estimates detailing the amount of time and materials needed for completing tasks.

  • Maintains adequate supplies and tools and orders vital materials to finish the tasks.

  • Maintains an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum.

  • Coordinates and inspects the work performed by outside contractors.

  • Contracted work may include landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC/R, plumbing, and cleaning.

  • Performs work in compliance with standard operating procedures and/or critical work packages, and maintenance work instructions.

  • Performs niche and sophisticated tasks such as carpentry, electrical, painting, roofing, HVAC, welding, furniture assembly/relocation and locksmith tasks.

  • Performs inspection of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC/R, plumbing and electrical.

  • Uses PC and/or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training.

  • Responds to emergency situations and customer concerns.

  • Performs general maintenance and building systems operational duties as assigned or directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repair using HVAC/R, Electrical, Boiler and Chiller expertise.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • HVAC certification preferred

  • Electrical license preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and trade school or training.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC/R (refrigeration) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Stationary Engineering experience that focuses heavily on HVAC/R, Electrical, Boiler & Chiller Operation and Maintenance

CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES

EPA Universal 608 certification preferred. Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.

Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.

Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training and experience. The salary range is $45 - $46 per hour. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
