Actalent Lab Research Associate in Raritan, New Jersey

Job Title: Lab Research AssociateJob Description

The Lab Research Associate will handle various mammalian cell lines/primary cells, bacteria cultures, maintaining their growth, and expanding them as required for specific in vitro experiments to evaluate various wound healing products. The role involves performing routine microbiological techniques, histology, and different assays like ELISA, protein estimation, or PCR. Additionally, the associate will maintain laboratory equipment calibration, order laboratory consumables, and ensure compliance with EHS and safety regulations. The role also includes performing statistical analysis of in-vitro studies and preparing scientific presentations, and collaborating with internal associates to develop and validate in-vitro and ex-vivo assays for wound healing if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Handle various mammalian cell lines/primary cells and bacteria cultures.

  • Maintain growth and expand cultures as required for specific in vitro experiments.

  • Perform routine microbiological techniques, including bacterial growth, streaking, spreading, plating, and colony count.

  • Conduct histology such as embedding, sectioning staining (immunohistochemistry, H&E, or immunocytochemistry) of animal and human tissue, and light/fluorescence microscopy.

  • Perform different assays like ELISA, protein estimation, or PCR.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment calibration and order laboratory consumables.

  • Ensure the laboratory is compliant with EHS and safety regulations.

  • Perform statistical analysis of in-vitro studies and prepare scientific presentations.

  • Collaborate with internal associates to develop and validate in-vitro and ex-vivo assays for wound healing if needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in cell culture, in vitro assays, and microbiology laboratory techniques.

  • A minimum of 1-year hands-on laboratory experience.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in molecular & cell biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or a related technical field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.

  • High level of organization and ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is desired.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without future employment visa sponsorship.

  • Less than 5% travel required.

  • Ability to work on-site.

  • Preferred 1-2 years of hands-on laboratory work experience in cell (mammalian) culture and microbial culture.

  • Experience performing studies, developing test methods, and generating reports.

  • Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes.

  • Experience with multidisciplinary projects that require interfacing with different scientific disciplines (microbiology, material science, chemistry).

Work Environment

The position offers a long-term opportunity to gain additional industry experience with various wound healing products. The work environment includes a laboratory setting where maintaining laboratory equipment calibration and ensuring compliance with EHS and safety regulations are critical. The role requires full-time availability (40 hours/week) and the ability to work on-site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
