Job Summary:

Reporting to one of two Assistant Directors for Residence Life, the Resident Director (RD) is responsible for the comprehensive management of 1-2 residence halls, housing approximately 230-350 residents and supervises 8-12 Resident Assistants. The RD serves as an active and visible residential life staff member that is responsible for facilitating an engaging building community-level residential experience that is highly relational; fosters curiosity and learning; centers well-being; and supports students in successfully finding their way. This is a full-time, twelve-month live-in position that includes a furnished on-campus apartment including utilities and a partial meal plan. Primary duties and responsibilities include: implementing the residential engagement model, administration and supervision, support for student development, crisis management, student conduct administration, community development, collaboration with physical facility management, university and departmental committee assignments and a summer collateral assignment.

Required Qualifications:

Experience in Residence Life or University setting. Demonstrated planning, administrative, organizational and supervisory skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and success in creating inclusive communities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree or equivalent education, training and experience. Previous residence life experience in a leadership role. Proven ability to address the needs of student groups and staff. Previous experience with learning communities, and collaboration with faculty and other campus constituents. Ability to promote a positive residential culture and community. Experience with student conduct, group advising, crisis response, behavior interventions, program coordination, and recruitment and training for student groups.
