Project Management Support

Manages the development and implementation process of SAP support services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing services.

Core tasks include:

  • Plans and directs schedules and may monitor budget/spending.

  • Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.

  • Organizes the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

The Project Consultant - Service & Support is responsible for performing a basic function in the Project Management Office of engagement(s), project(s) and/or program(s). This role may include such project roles as Project Team Lead, Project Coordinator for a larger and more strategic project or Project Manager for a small strategic project or operational project.

In the Project Team Lead capacity:

  • Assist the Project or Program PMO as needed by the SAP Project Manager or internal customer

  • Manage a sub-Project group to supervise and represent a team within a large project or program

  • Ensure project success (budgets, schedule, quality and business value)

  • Ensure proper use of methodology, tools and procedures

  • Assist with project coordination, planning and management as well as early escalations

  • Capture project metrics and ensure they are clearly communicated to the project management team

In the Project Manager capacity:

  • S/he is responsible for managing the project throughout its lifecycle applying skills learned as a Project Team Lead or Project Coordinator. S/he is responsible for defining, planning, tracking and managing the project in accordance with the project management methodology practices. S/he would identify required resources and collaborate with the Sponsor to set the direction required to meet the project objectives. In that capacity:

  • Participate in the project initiation and planning activities and manage the execution or projects according to the plan

  • Manage communications to internal and external stakeholders with input and guidance from the Sponsor

  • Lead the project team members by communicating what needs to happen and holding the team accountable for delivering on objectives

  • Identifying risks or issues and developing mitigation options for consideration/decision making by the Sponsor in order to maintain project momentum.
