Job Description Summary

As an Application engineer you will be responsible for the interpretation of design documents to determine the applicability of parts to use, and interchangeability for legacy and new applications.

This is an intermediate level engineering position requiring knowledge of engineering principles and experience in the application of principles. In this role, the engineer will demonstrate the capability to perform work assignments on a wide variety of routine tasks with limited supervision. The engineer must have the capability to make sound recommendations regarding safety, reliability and integrity of the products and services being provided. The engineer will be given greater leadership responsibility and opportunities for direct interface with customers, distributors, and vendors.

The Applications Engineer will perform activities to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Act as consultant to guide customer in planning and development of technical solutions

  • Assist with technical development of proposals, assuring compliance to Customer's specs by working closely with engineering, product managers, and proposal managers to ensure valid statement of product or work for competitive proposal generation

  • Act as technical support to the commercial teams, providing technical expertise during Customer presentations, demonstrations, evaluations and testing.

  • Assist Product Support Engineers in customers in troubleshooting as needed.

  • Track issues discovered during demonstration, evaluation, and testing of product and follow through with Engineering team to provide a resolution.

  • Provide product training to customers and sales force.

  • Responsible for the pre-sales technical support of customers and the sales team.

  • Effective communications to outline, present, and sell the technical value of TDI products and services.

  • Develop and cultivate long-term relationships at the technical levels of customer organizations

  • Coordinate with sales teams to make customer calls and presentations and participate in bid meetings and site walk-through meetings with customer as necessary

  • Collaborate with Sales on product requirements. Assist Sales or presents technical sales presentations. Have face-to-face discussions with internal and external customers on detail design and product issues.

  • Support the development of new leads and market opportunities in the Sales Region

  • Provide market dynamics input such as competitive intelligence and industry trends to the Marketing and Business teams

  • Prepare and present technical presentations, white papers, and case studies at industry conferences

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Demonstrated Experience in Turbomachinery and Mechanical products.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal in Spanish and English.

  • Hands on expertise in configuring and troubleshooting products in the field with support from Product Support Engineering.

  • Demonstrates practical experience and understanding of industrial installations
