COMPUTER LITERACY TEACHER
We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Computer Literacy Teacher to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Computer Literacy Teacher for our Families w/ Children Facility in the Jamaica area of Queens, NY. As the Computer Literacy Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating group classes within the organization’s adult education program for families experiencing homelessness. The adult education program consists of coordinated services for parents including Family Literacy, Computer Training, Job Readiness, ESOL and High School Equivalency. The goal of the Computer Training program is to enhance college and career readiness skills. Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedule, coordinate and facilitate all classes and events, including one-on-one sessions and weekly group classes. Class topics include, but are not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail etiquette, digital presentations, and information literacy.
Recruit program participants via events and outreach.
Develop curriculum, class schedules and calendars.
Assist participants in identifying and accessing community services/resources which relate to the family’s needs.
Collect data and track attendance and participation to evaluate effectiveness of classes, events and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Education, or related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching computer literacy to adults.
Experience developing and adapting lesson plans.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Experience working within diverse, non-traditional settings and with vulnerable populations.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

SALARY
$22-$25 an hour
This position is part-time (20 Hours Per Week)
