Joint Activities Inspector General in PYONG TAEK, South Korea

Summary About the Position: Serves as a Joint Inspector General (IG) for Headquarters, United States Forces Korea (HQ USFK) with a combined customer base of over 30,000 personnel comprised of U.S. Service Members (Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps), Department of Defense (DoD) and NAF Civilians, Family Members, Retirees, DoD Contractors and Korean Local Nationals. Responsibilities Conduct interviews of witnesses or subjects of investigations to detect discrepancies or to identify relevant information. Assist in determining the source of information, gathering applicable regulations and documents which will be required in conducting the inspection. Develop an inspection action plan which incorporates the results of pre-inspection research, outlines objectives, inspection approaches, and timeframes. Analyze and review various data sources to determine potential trends in fraud, waste, mismanagement, and misconduct within the organization. Conduct inspections of assigned activities to provide impartial appraisals of performance and the efficiency of inspected organizations in accomplishing assigned functions and missions Analyze compliance findings to identify and isolate systemic problems related to Inspection activities. Conduct investigations into the allegations of fraud, waste, misuse, or other forms of noncompliance within the installation to initiate corrective actions. Brief managers, leadership, and senior officials at all levels on case status, findings determined from a complaint or allegation, recommendations, and follow-on actions. Conduct investigations to obtain facts and information relative to violations of law, executive orders, and federal regulations. Assist the workforce in resolving complex issues and problems. Serve as the focal point or policy expert for information related to the organization. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in planning for and executing inspector general programs and using software data systems; experience in conducting investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and regulations; experience in conducting interviews, establishing, and maintaining effective relationships with supervisors, employees, administrative personnel, operating officials; experience in assembling and analyzing facts, drawing conclusions, and devising solutions to assigned problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection Information Analysis Investigatory Analysis Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations.
