Morgan Stanley WM Global Investment Office - Financial Writer/Editor in Purchase, New York
The Wealth Management Global Investment Office (GIO) is an approximately 170-person team led by the Wealth Management Chief Investment Officer. The GIO guides clients with an array of strategic, tactical and thematic market publications, expert investment advice, including financial planning, and asset allocation models. It consists of the Global Investment Committee, Market Research & Strategy, Retirement Solutions & Investment Tools, Portfolio Construction & Cross-Asset Strategy, Model Portfolio Solutions and Financial Planning. These teams work to maximize clients' financial goals and provide a suite of services for Financial Advisors.
The financial writer/editor will join the COO team within the Global Investment Office, reporting to the head editor and working alongside various members of the organization and partners across the firm.
Responsibilities include the following: - Assisting in managing the editorial workflow for GIO publications. Editing reports and assisting analysts and strategists with writing as needed to meet deadlines. - Developing/repackaging client-friendly content based on the latest GIO thinking and research for use with all client types (from mass affluent to UHNW/institutional) across multiple channels (MS.com, E*Trade, MS@Work, PWM, IWM, Graystone, OCIO). - Writing, producing and distributing the repackaged GIC Weekly as well as additional user-friendly digital versions of content and audiocast scripts in conjunction with editing and production of the main report. This would include the development of text that can be used in NBAs, emails and tweets for streamlined approvals and timely publication of digital versions. - Reformatting Morgan Stanley & Co. Research and Wealth Management GIO reports for use as articles in the monthly On the Markets publication. Editing articles and assisting with other aspects of the production process for the monthly publication. - Writing and distributing GIC/GIO thought leadership in digital channels in appropriate formats (MS.com articles, NBAs, social media posts, FA websites, Morgan Stanley Online, etc.); managing the NBA process for all GIC/GIO content. - Writing scripts for audiocasts and other virtual/live events. - Serving as a resource for AEM (internal authoring system) training and publishing. Ensuring keywords are tagged for search optimization.
Qualifications: • At least five years’ experience in communications/publishing, writing or journalism, with a focus on delivering digital content • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with an English or journalism major • Knowledge and interest in the finance industry and markets strongly preferred • Excellent writing and editing skills, with an eye toward relatable digital content for an external audience • Strong ability to prioritize and analyze information that is both quantitative and qualitative in nature to develop insights for an external audience • Detail-oriented with excellent communication and presentation skills • Comfort juggling multiple priorities; strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team or independently • Persistence, tenacity and drive for results

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
