Professional Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Outdoor Adventures Coordinator develops, implements, and manages programs and activities for the Outdoor Recreation Center including Adventure Facilitator development and supervision. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Business, Recreation, Sport Management, Higher Education or related field) and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area to include a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • Wilderness First Aid, CPR/AED certifications. • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four3 and departmental driving standards. • Ability to obtain and maintain Coaching the Van Driver certification and WSU van driver's authorization within 3 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Outdoor Education, Education, Environmental Education or related field. • Master's degree in Recreation, Outdoor Education, Higher Education Administration, Environmental Education or related field. • Demonstrated experience administering risk management practices for recreation programs. • Professional experience developing and administering outdoor programming to a culturally diverse population. • Demonstrated success in personnel training and supervision of multiple part-time staff. • Expertise in instructing two or more of the following outdoor activities and experience with one or more additional: backcountry skiing/splitboarding, backpacking, cross country skiing, sea kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, mountaineering, rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, whitewater rafting. • Possession of at least one current nationally recognized certification in avalanche, climbing, kayaking, or commonly practiced pursuit within collegiate outdoor recreation. • Wilderness First Responder certification. • Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructor certification. • AIARE Avalanche 1 (or higher) Instructor certification. • ACA Level 3 (or higher) White Water or Coastal Kayak Instructor certification. • Experience developing and administering collaborative programming with multiple organizations that combines service learning with an outdoor experience. • Demonstrated pursuit of personal professional development through participation in a national industry association or organization. ?
