Course Reserve and Document Delivery Supervisor - Job close date 02/23/2025
The Course Reserve and Document Delivery Supervisor ensures accurate and timely processing of all print or electronic course reserve materials and document delivery requests while limiting university liability by ensuring that requests are in compliance with relevant national and university copyright policies, laws, and guidelines.
What you will be doing in this position:
Workflow Management
- Supervise the processing of print and electronic materials requested by professors and students
- Oversee semesterly textbook project to find and place materials on course reserve
- Provide quality control of course reserve and scanning records, files, and requests
- Ensure that requested course materials and scanning requests are completed by their respective deadlines
- Resolve difficult faculty and student concerns and complaints
- Diagnose, track, and correct complex processing errors
Be the primary contact with faculty to make sure that course reserve needs are met
Supervises and Trains Personnel
- Hire and supervise 8+ student employees
- Schedule employees to make sure services are staffed during regular business hours
- Responsible for scheduling, performing, and monitoring the training of student employees
- Conduct semester student employee performance evaluations
Develop and plan weekly student employee training meetings
Copyright Compliance
- Develop and maintain expertise on current relevant copyright laws, guidelines, and case law
- Ensure that scanning and course reserve requests fall within appropriate national and university copyright standards and guidelines
- Collaborate with campus faculty members to find alternative fulfillment methods that will limit university liability and still meet the needs of various course curriculum
Process Improvement
- Maintain and report statistics for process improvement
- Identify ways to improve service quality
Assist with assessment related to services supervised
Professional development/continuous learning
- Participate in department, library, and university trainings
- With supervisor, determine other position-related professional development activities and the scope of involvement
Participate in library and departmental committees and meetings as assigned
What qualifies you for this role:
Minimum education/experience required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred
- One year library experience in course reserve, circulation, or related field
One year supervisory experience
Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
Required
- Management skills with demonstrated ability to hire, train, and evaluate employees
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and other university personnel
- Demonstrated ability to proactively adapt to changes in situations, processes, and priorities
- Ability to research and locate requested articles/books/periodicals/etc.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred
Knowledge of the US Copyright law as it affects library/research/classroom use of photocopy or digital reproduction of print materials
Working experience with relevant digitization hardware and software such as Adobe Acrobat, scanners, d igital photocopiers, file management and graphics software, etc.
Pay Level: 48 non-exempt
