Pearson Senior Manager - Sales Training in Providence, Rhode Island

Senior Manager Sales Training

Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Sales Training, will play a pivotal role in developing and executing the training strategy for Pearson Education’s enterprise sales organization. This individual will work closely with Sales Leadership, Product, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to design and deliver high-impact training programs that empower the sales team to effectively position and sell Pearson’s products and solutions. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, deep product knowledge, and strong training delivery capabilities, as well as the ability to assess the effectiveness of training programs and make data-driven improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Training Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive sales training strategy that supports the growth and development of Pearson’s enterprise sales team.

  • Collaborate with Sales Leadership to identify training needs, define objectives, and align training programs with business goals.

  • Create and deliver engaging, impactful training content that addresses key sales skills, product knowledge, and market insights.

  • Develop onboarding programs for new sales hires, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to succeed quickly.

  • Product Training & Knowledge Management:

  • Partner with Product and Marketing teams to develop and deliver training on new products, features, and solutions, ensuring that the sales team is equipped with up-to-date and accurate product knowledge.

  • Conduct regular product knowledge refreshers and deep-dive training sessions to ensure the sales team is fully informed on the latest product offerings and updates.

  • Maintain and curate an internal knowledge base, including training materials, FAQs, and product documentation, to provide ongoing support to the sales team.

  • Training Delivery & Facilitation:

  • Lead in-person and virtual training sessions for sales teams across various regions, ensuring high engagement and retention of information.

  • Utilize a variety of training delivery methods, including classroom sessions, webinars, e-learning, and interactive workshops.

  • Provide ongoing training and development support to sales leaders and frontline managers to help them coach their teams effectively.

  • Performance Assessment & Metrics:

  • Design and implement assessments to measure the effectiveness of training programs and ensure that sales team members can apply learned concepts to real-world selling situations.

  • Track training progress, completion rates, and sales performance metrics to measure the success of training programs.

  • Use data-driven insights to refine and optimize training programs to continuously improve outcomes and drive sales effectiveness.

  • Sales Enablement & Support:

  • Provide ongoing support to sales teams by answering questions, clarifying product details, and offering coaching on sales strategies.

  • Continuously assess the evolving needs of the sales organization and develop customized training solutions to address emerging challenges.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to understand sales priorities and ensure training content is aligned with current sales strategies.

  • Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of training professionals, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and resources to deliver high-quality training programs.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the sales organization, encouraging team members to actively seek out opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications is a plus.

  • Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in sales training, sales enablement, or product training in an enterprise sales environment, with a proven track record of success in designing and delivering effective training programs.

  • Experience working with sales teams, particularly in complex, enterprise-level sales environments, and knowledge of the sales process.

  • Strong experience in product training, with the ability to translate complex product concepts into clear and actionable training content.

  • Previous experience in managing or leading a training team is highly desirable.

  • Skills:

  • Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage a variety of audiences (virtual, in-person, small groups, large groups).

  • Strong content development skills, including the ability to create high-quality training materials, e-learning modules, and assessments.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and modern training methodologies.

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), training platforms, and sales enablement tools.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and sales leadership.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess training effectiveness and iterate based on data and feedback.

What to expect from Pearson

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $140,000 - $165,000
