Safety/Training Specialist

The position is located on-site in Rhode Island.

Grid One Solutions is actively hiring a Training Specialist to perform work within our Rhode Island Territory. As a Training Specialist, you’ll deliver training programs, evaluate and edit training materials, and prepare recommendations for qualification programs to meet job and code requirements.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Review training programs with other Training Specialists.

  • Implement various initiatives to improve the quality of existing training programs and modules and manuals.

  • Deliver technical training to employees and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME).

  • Assume responsibility for the safe operation of a company vehicle, equipment, and tools.

  • Commitment to customer service and responding to the needs of internal and external customers in a professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Ability to efficiently communicate with others and handle escalated situations professionally.

  • Read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information

  • Computer and smartphone literate

  • Ability to read maps and navigate in congested areas.

  • Independently manage time and workload to meet deadlines.

  • Mechanically inclined and has experience with a variety of tools.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with little or no supervision

  • This is a minimum 40-hour workweek with Saturdays considered inclement weather make-up days.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of training experience with an extensive electric background, preferably in the Utility field with an electric metering background.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA regulations and state/local codes.

Pre-Screen:

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License: Must have a clean Driving Record, free of any major moving violations within the last five years; minimal non-moving violations.

  • BGE OQ 18 is required. Relight is preferred but not required.

  • A Gas Fitter’s License is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • RARE (less than 10%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body-twisting, crawling, manual dexterity, climbing on/off a truck, climbing, gripping, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., depth perception, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): reaching

  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): standing, walking, sitting, sense of touch, range of motion, hearing-speech range.

  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): speaking clearly, seeing distant, seeing, reading, color vision, climbing stairs.

Safety:

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
