Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (https://professional.brown.edu) (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Program Manager, Online Graduate Programs, this position serves as a vital member of the Academic Innovation unit within The School of Professional Studies (SPS). The Admissions and Program Coordinator, Online Graduate Programs plays a vital role in managing the admissions process and supporting various program activities. The role focuses on ensuring a seamless experience for prospective and admitted students, as well as supporting data management and administrative tasks. The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing all functions of the admissions and application review processes for an assigned portfolio of online graduate programs, with a primary focus on supporting applicants and prospective students from the point of completed application through matriculation. Responsibilities include monitoring the application system,

coordinating application review and decision release, and other activities related to the admissions process. The successful candidate will also support initiatives for achieving enrollment goals and communicating admissions criteria to prospective students. The Admissions and Program Coordinator will help with managing admission review committees, tracking scholarship allocations, maintaining databases and student information, as well as other admissions-related duties as assigned across a portfolio of online graduate programs.

Job Qualifications & Competencies:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree along with 1 year of experience in higher education admissions, marketing, recruiting, student services or related areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and familiarity with a variety of software applications

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills with demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and manage multiple tasks, anticipate needs, set priorities, solve problems, and meet deadlines

  • Experience with online graduate education and application CRM systems

  • Collaborative team player who fosters open communication and cooperation among stakeholders

  • Self-disciplined individual who works independently and applies good judgment

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred:

  • Experience with Slate, Banner, and/or other student CRM/SIS systems and databases.

  • Experience with learning management systems and other educational technologies.

  • Knowledge of graduate admissions & the admissions funnel, preferably for online master’s programs.

  • Prior experience in online graduate education environments.
