General Atomics Ground Control Stations Technician Team Leader in Poway, California

Functioning with minimal supervision and working independently, this position fabricates, modifies, assembles, installs, operates, repairs, and maintains complex production equipment and experimental apparatus. May perform design of moderately complex equipment. Conducts extremely complex tests and experiments. Records, evaluates, and reports data. Summarizes test data via written tabulation, charts, and graphs, and prepares written reports.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for fabrication, modification, installation, testing, and documentation of complex laboratory and experimental equipment/products such as but limited to, coil winding systems, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, specialized mechanical test systems, complex magnet flux mapping systems, electrical/electronic control and measuring systems, and mechanical measuring systems.
Operates specialized equipment or performs tests requiring knowledge of processes.
Interprets general instructions, plans sequence of assembly, maintains quality assurance documentation and prepares sketches and schematics.
Assists in the design of complex equipment and may perform the design of moderately complex equipment.
Makes recommendations concerning design or feasibility of developmental, test, or experimental equipment.
Executes assigned set of production operations to meet schedule or complex experimental functions.
Generates detailed rework or prototype procedures and is responsible for prototype or rework fabrication supervision.
Records and reports experimental or test data, observing data for anomalies, preparing summaries of data via written tabulations, charts, graphs, and reports as necessary.
Diagnoses and corrects operational problems or trouble sources in production or test equipment.
Develops maintenance program to prevent shutdown. 8. Initiates and is responsible for procurement of standard materials, services, and parts required for tests and equipment, and provides necessary liaison in work area.
May serve as Lead Technician in work area on a large program, including offsite or during shift work.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Additional Functions:
Participates in budgeting, scheduling and cost estimating of work as applicable.
Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with training from the military and/or a trade school and twelve or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Ability to train and lead others.
Proficient in computer operations and applications pertinent to the field.
Analytical ability to interpret detailed instructions, drawings and specifications.
Competencies to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
Ability to diagnose complex mechanical/electrical problems and find effective solutions.
Communication skills necessary to write and record precise information and submit reports.
Special skills and expertise to use complex equipment or experimental techniques.
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearance is desired.
