AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety, and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
Lead in the development and implementation of Food Safety Fundamentals as outlines in the SQF code.
Will assist the QA Manager in maintaining, validating, and verifying the Food Safety Plan as mandated by the Food Safety and Modernization Act. (FSMA)
Sampling, inspection and analysis of raw materials, work in progress and finished products.
Scheduling and conducting Internal Food Safety/GMP Audits.
Follow up with implemented programs (GMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Allergen Control, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Equipment Calibration, etc.) to ensure compliance by all employees and other personnel in the manufacturing facility.
Ensure personnel conducting validation and verification activities are properly trained.
Manage pathogen environmental monitoring program.
Works with production and sanitation supervisors to perform root cause analysis investigation and identify appropriate corrective actions.
Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards.
Ensure good performance by quality assurance technicians/auditors by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.
Assist with managing customer complaint system, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action, and timely written response back to customer.
Serves as backup to QA Manager as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Science related field or minimum of 5 years equivalent experience in food manufacturing.
2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Maintain a valid drivers’ license and must be able to travel.
