Job Description :
Indorama Ventures is seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our HS&S team. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with federal regulations and industry standards while promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
What will be expected of you?
Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure adherence to federal regulations, industry standards, Indorama policies, and best practices.
Maintain tracking and reporting process for occupational injuries and illnesses, including entry onto the OSHA 300 log.
Collaborate with the insurance claims department to manage the worker’s compensation program.
Employee Health Management:
Work with Human Resources Department to manage return-to-work procedures to ensure employees return fit for duty from personal injury/illness absences.
Apply nursing principles to maximize health resources and conserve the health of workers.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Emphasize prevention, recognition and treatment of illnesses and injuries.
Use specific skills and knowledge in the fields of health education, counseling, environmental health, and human relations.
Promote and provide health education programs, counsel employees about health hazards in the work environment.
Clinical Services:
Schedule examinations, perform EKG with recognition of abnormalities, obtain vital signs, conduct vision testing, pulmonary function testing and compare with previous test results. Perform venipuncture, perform audiogram testing and counseling, collect urine and any special medical testing required.
Providing any other specific clinical testing, medical treatment, or health services authorized by the site physician.
Dispense medication as per state and federal laws and physician standing orders.
Program Development & Evaluation:
Develop, implement, and maintain health policies and procedures.
Develop and review nursing protocols for medical surveillance programs.
Plays the lead role in the rehabilitation process to return the employee to meaningful employment.
Establish and maintain a confidential medical record system.
Evaluates and revises health programs to meet current needs.
Function as an active partner with other health care professionals in providing appropriate health services to the employees while staying current in nursing best practices.
Operational Support:
Assist with procurement of medical supplies and maintenance of medical equipment.
Provide health care services for occupational injuries and illnesses. This can take place within the medical department as well as inside the operating units.
Done in accordance with state law and by standing orders from the site physician. Locations maintaining Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification provide medical care in accordance with advanced protocol as directed by the site physician.
Provide limited care and treatment of minor non-occupational related illnesses that occur during working hours.
Provide after-hours support for medical inquiries and medical emergencies.
Ensure that the activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality and responsible care requirements).
Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals.
Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company required training programs.
What are we looking for in the Ideal candidate?
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas required.
Minimum of 5 years nursing experience.
Proficiency in pulmonary function and audiometric testing.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and consensus governing occupational health.
Experience in a petrochemical environment.
Internet, Email and Microsoft Office programs.
