St. Jude Medical Cardiology Division Inc. Senior Engineer, Process Development in Plymouth, Minnesota

SENIOR ENGINEER, PROCESS DEVELOPMENT St. Jude Medical, an Abbott Labs Co. / Plymouth, MN Develop processes based on product specifications and in consideration to process and test method capabilities. Design fixtures and tools using computer-aided design (CAD) software tools, including SolidWorks or related . Identify Key Process inputs and outputs for process characterization. Conduct studies and perform statistical analyses using Minitab or related statistical software packages. Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials properties, and process (advantages/limitations) engineering planning. Evaluate process and propose design alternatives based on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles. Understand principles of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) relative to material, direct labor, and overhead costs as well as in consideration to manufacturing process yields. Author and execute Process Validations including Test Method Validation (TMV), Inspection Method Validation (IMV), Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), Performance Qualification (PQ), Product Performance Qualification (PPQ) . Apply understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) issues relative to processes being developed. Maintain knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies. Applying understanding of work environment issues (i.e. OSHA regulations, etc.). May supervise or provide work direction to other engineers and technicians. Lead or serve as member on cross-functional project teams. Solve problems using problem solving and statistical tools and make sound design recommendations. Work in SAP or other ERP systems to implement manufacturing changes. Work cross functionally with R&D, Quality and Regulatory functions to develop and implement new processes. Bachelor s or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of professional manufacturing or engineering experience in: (i) using computer-aided design (CAD) software tools, including SolidWorks or related; (ii) Conduct studies and perform statistical analyses using Minitab or related statistical software packages; and (iii) Process Validations including Test Method Validation (TMV), Inspection Method Validation (IMV), Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), Performance Qualification (PQ), Product Performance Qualification (PPQ).
