As an IV Pharmacy Technician, you will assist the IV Manager with the day-to-day operational needs of the Infusion department. This role requires adherence to the company’s quality and customer service standards, policies and procedures, and state and federal guidelines.
Responsibilities
Fill IV orders, including mixing IV medications, calculating doses, and applying all sterile techniques.
Send supplies and equipment to facilities.
Maintain all IV mixing records.
Perform regular cleaning and maintenance checks on all equipment.
Program all infusion pumps.
Enter data for all applicable IV orders.
Order supplies from various vendors.
Perform other tasks as required.
Complete technician assignments as requested by pharmacy management.
Maintain all IV pharmacy related equipment and supplies in the equipment rental log.
Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of client services, policies, and procedures.
Ensure safety policy and procedures are practiced and adhered to.
Participate in special projects to identify and implement operational improvements.
Work with others in a positive and productive manner, anticipating and responding to the needs of the position.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED.
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Trainee with the State Board of Pharmacy.
Strong computer skills.
Thorough understanding of medical terminology and drug knowledge.
Math and analytical skills, with a focus on calculations.
Minimum of two years working in a long-term care pharmacy preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in a retail or long-term care pharmacy.
Fulfillment or compounding experience.
Pharmacy technician certification.
Basic computer knowledge skills.
Understanding of sterile processing.
Work Environment
This position is based in a fulfillment pharmacy located in the back of the building. It is a closed-door long-term care pharmacy that fulfills prescriptions for many long-term care and nursing facilities. The facility operates with about 50 people across three shifts. The work environment can be quiet as technicians usually work alone on their tasks, but everyone is friendly and willing to help if needed. It resembles more of a clean manufacturing environment than a traditional pharmacy. The schedule is for the 2nd shift: 4pm-12:30am, Monday to Friday, with rotating holidays and weekends. A shift premium is provided: $0.50 for 2nd and 3rd shifts, and $1.50 on weekends.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
