Job Description

The Senior HR Generalist, Retail provides leadership and direction for the implementation and coordination of the HR functions of their respective Districts/Regions/Divisions. Works closely with Loss Prevention and Store Operations teams in the following areas: employee relations, employee development, statutory and policy compliance, investigations, and related activities. Reporting to the Director, the Senior HR Generalist, Retail will serve as a business partner to the District and Regional Management Team while participating in Corporate Human Resource initiatives as required.

*Position can be remote from anywhere in the United States

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in district and region initiatives including but not limited to recruiting, on-boarding, training, associate development, retention, succession planning, respectful workplace, corrective action, etc.

  • Support District Managers with corrective action/performance improvement documentation as needed; provides companywide calibration of policies for DMs and RDs

  • Support audits of GNC HR management policies and directives, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment/wage and hour statues. Provide related training

  • Consult with DMs and RDs on performance assessments, performance improvement and general talent development initiatives. This includes facilitating individual and group workshops to train and retain high-potential talent.

  • Receive, record, and investigate employee complaints/issues, respond in a timely manner and report essential case information to HR, district, regional, VP partners, as appropriate

  • Collaborate with GNCs legal department; provide initial investigations and guides retail partners in cases including, but not limited to, wage and hour claims, EEOC claims, ADA accommodation concerns, Civil Rights claims, etc.

  • Assist in screening internal DM candidates internal and conduct interviews for external District Manager candidates, as needed. Support sourcing, interviewing, and hiring skills training for SMs and DMs as directed.

  • Provide individual and group training to develop and enhance a respectful working environment at all locations

  • Support HR coordinator who completes unemployment compensation claims including initial claim responses and requests for documentation; provide advance notification to applicable witnesses and provide follow-up, as needed

  • Travel to support HR functions, as needed

  • Additional duties, as assigned

  • This job may or may not have supervisory responsibilities

PHYSICAL ASPECTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required

  • 5+ years human resources experience required; retail HR experience preferred

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting

  • Expert verbal and written communication skills in English (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning) - Bilingual skills preferred

  • Ability to build and maintain influential and collaborative relationships with peers, colleagues, and senior management across the organization

  • Expert interviewing skills, including the ability to gather facts objectively and accurately in emotionally charged situations

  • Expert conflict prevention and resolution skills

  • Proficient understanding of GNCs business objectives and related strategies

  • Proficient knowledge of GNC policies and US labor laws

  • Proficient knowledge of adult development, learning and performance improvement principles

  • Ability to work efficiently, remotely, in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, diverse and deadline-oriented environment

  • Proficient organizational and project-management skills, including the ability to meet demanding, evolving and overlapping deadlines

  • Proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Must have current driver's license and the ability to travel alone or with others, as needed
