University of Pittsburgh Faculty.Instructor.Research - Full-Time in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Department of Computational and Systems Biology is searching for a Research Instructor to work within the University of Pittsburgh Drug Discovery Institute on biomimetic human liver MPS programs, including using liver MPS for evaluating disease progression and drug testing in liver disease genetic variants and studying high-risk genetic variants using liver MPS constructed with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Both areas are part of our combined effort to develop a preclinical trial precision medicine platform to optimize the selection of patient cohorts for clinical trials by testing genetic variants. Great talent in multi-cell-based experimentation, knowledge of liver physiology, and the use of imaging systems are required. Cell Biologists and/or biomedical engineers with experience in designing and applying liver MPS systems are also strongly encouraged to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for a post-doc with 2-4 years of experience to take a step forward in their career and participate in and develop a leadership role in a highly collaborative team of bio-engineers, cell and molecular biologists, computational biologists, pharmacologists, and clinician-scientists to apply our MPS models of disease to drug discovery. The incumbent will be expected to conduct and manage independent research projects from experimental design to presentation and to prepare and draft various research documents, including manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. The Research Instructor will also Facilitate work and project development in collaboration with other industry and academic collaborators. In addition, the incumbent will also train undergraduates, graduate students, new postdoctoral fellows, and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates project development in collaboration with other specialists. This faculty position requires a PhD in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
