Job Summary

Designs, provides, and oversees clinical management, testing, and data acquisition for research participants and projects as correlates to speech and language. Plans and oversees behavioral testing sessions and documents all treatments and data associated and in regards to all applicable protocols and regulations. Recruits, schedules, and coordinates research participants across simultaneous, multiple projects. Conducts speech and language problem related research.

Essential Functions

This individual will support parts of an NIH-funded aphasia clinical trial focused on computer-based treatments in aphasia rehabilitation in the Language Rehabilitation and Cognition Lab in the Pitt Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (https://lrcl.pitt.edu/). Responsibilities will include 1) participant recruitment and scheduling, 2) data collection including skilled treatment of aphasia and assessment of aphasia treatment protocols and administration of standardized aphasia assessment batteries, 3) data management, 4) participant reimbursement, 5) preparation of IRB and NIH documentation, 6) assistance with project coordination. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, reliable, and energetic, with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. They must be able to work independently, juggle and prioritize multiple tasks, seek assistance when appropriate, be able to work with a diverse group of people, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Additionally, applicants must be willing to travel to and from research participants' homes for protocol implementation (mileage is reimbursed at standard rates). Applicants must have a Master's degree in speech-language pathology by the time of position start date. While clinical certification is not required, this position is appropriate for someone seeking a clinical fellowship in speech-language pathology.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort is required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
