Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Responsible for analysis and engineering design of mechanical systems for building construction projects. Provide mechanical design and consulting services by actively creating design concepts while collaborating with other engineers and disciplines using AutoCAD and REVIT.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and build relationships with clients to drive company growth.

  • Set task priorities, evaluate results, and coordinate with others using independent judgment.

  • Integrate theoretical and practical information for construction projects.

  • Solve complex problems with limited standardization or technical guidelines.

  • Assist in marketing potential projects and proactively pursue projects with new and existing clients.

  • Maintain client satisfaction and participate in project interviews.

  • Conduct field surveys for new or proposed projects.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the client's business and the relationships between owners, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

  • Perform design calculations and code research, discuss design concepts with clients, and write and edit specifications for system design.

  • Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines in creating drawings and utilizing CAD programs.

  • Supervise and support engineers and designers.

  • Maintain schedules and meet deadlines.

  • Provide costing estimates for assigned systems.

  • Communicate and coordinate work in progress with team members while managing multiple projects.

  • Cross-reference drawings with meeting notes and create schematic, design development, and construction documents.

  • Make site visits for job site observations and perform construction administration responsibilities.

  • Review documents for accuracy and coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural personnel.

  • Troubleshoot problems and communicate with appropriate parties.

  • Maintain CAD, Revit, and company standards.

  • Keep abreast of changes, new technology, and trends in the area of expertise.

  • Recommend updated procedures and methods where appropriate.

  • Participate and lead quality control reviews.

  • Contribute ideas and possible solutions as a team member while providing leadership development opportunities.

  • May require work or attendance at meetings beyond normal workday.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferred but not required)

  • PE License (preferred but not required)

  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in a related position

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering, HVAC, and plumbing

  • Ability to operate computer and various software and engineering tools/equipment

  • Excellent communication and human relation skills

  • Ability to solve complex problems

  • Commitment to quality and teamwork

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience within mechanical engineering design

  • Ability to perform independently in Revit

  • 4-8 years of experience

  • Ability to take on BD/client-facing/leadership roles

  • Mentorship experience

  • Experience in field surveys, project interviews, and construction administration

Work Environment

The work environment includes sitting for 5-6 hours, standing for 2-3 hours, and walking for 1-2 hours per workday. Limited bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching above shoulder. Rarely lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs. Job requires presence on construction sites with provided personal protective equipment (hard hats). Valid driver’s license required for travel to meetings and job sites. Exposure to job site hazards. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $60.09/hr.
