Microsoft is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician with extensive experience in fiber optic cabling, cable dressing, and management. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the construction and maintenance of Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDF) at our two new data center sites. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in fiber optic infrastructure and a commitment to maintaining high standards of network performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Fiber Optic Cabling: Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables to ensure optimal network performance.
Cable Dressing and Management: Organize and manage fiber optic cables within IDF closets, ensuring neat and efficient cable routing.
IDF Construction: Assist in the setup and configuration of IDF closets, including the installation of switches, patch panels, and other network equipment.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve fiber optic cabling issues to maintain uninterrupted network connectivity.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cabling installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with network engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure successful project completion.
Compliance: Adhere to industry standards and best practices for fiber optic cabling and network infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optic cabling, cable dressing, and management.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables. Familiarity with network equipment and IDF setup.
Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in cable management and documentation.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network cabling issues efficiently.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Microsoft has a surge of data center deployments in the PHX market. They have two buildings they need to quickly build the IDF for so that they can go live with the sites this summer. This is a maximum effort deployment and requires all hands on deck.
Microsoft is in Hypergrowth mode which makes it an exciting time to join. Just on the westside valley alone, Microsoft plans to build 2-3 data centers per year for the next five years and triple in size. With that growth comes a lot of opportunity and potential upward mobility.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
