The Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree Worker in Phoenix, Arizona

LOCATION: Metro Phoenix Divisional Headquarters

STATUS: FT Temp 40 hours/wk – Flex (Mon-Fri 10:30a-3:30p, Sun 10:30a-6:00p or Mon - Fri 3:30p-7p, Sun 10:30a-6p) Evening hours increase the few weeks before Christmas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma or GED required

  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Must deal effectively in emotionally stressful situations with a variety of ethnic and personality types.

  • Must be able to work well with peers, the community and volunteers.

  • English/Spanish Bilingual preferred

  • Must be self directed and work with little supervision.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet with principals of The Salvation Army Christmas Program & assist in determining direction of current year program

  • Support the program and troubleshoot issues and bring to resolution

  • Secure and manage Christmas Angel Tree supplies.

  • Create, order, monitor, assure accuracy and completeness of Angel Tree forms

  • Greet the public with kindness and professionalism at the tree.

  • Adhere to flexible hours to fill in around volunteers.

  • Work with Metro Event Assistant to get tags written in a timely manner and coordinate with officer responsible for mall distribution

  • Coordinate with Metro Volunteer Coordinator to ensure sufficient volunteer staff

  • Process donations correctly and secure them in the mall storage area.

  • Coordinate assignments for staff and volunteers for distribution to ensure all functions are covered

  • Maintain files so that all key documents for the Christmas Angel Program can be organized in a binder for historical reference

  • Other duties as assigned as they relate the position of Angel Tree worker.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
