Summary:
The Senior Organizational Development Consultant within Penn Medicine Academy’s change management practice will work to strengthen the organizational health of Penn Medicine by partnering with leaders and teams to deliver specialized consulting services in a highly complex academic medicine environment. This role requires strong expertise and experience in change management, strategic planning, performance improvement, and high-performance team development.
The role reports to the Director of Organizational Development and Change Management and will be part of a high-performance team of organizational development and change management consultants. This individual will exercise broad judgement in selecting and deploying techniques and methods to develop workplans and milestones for projects across our service areas. This role requires the ability to manage client relationships at a senior level, understand business issues facing clients and incorporate in project design, and maintain awareness of complex stakeholder relationships within and around engagements.
The Senior Organizational Development Consultant will work across entities, departments, and functions to improve ways of working and build new efficiencies. This individual will partner with clinical and administrative leaders, including the Chief Medical Officers, Chief Quality and Safety Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, Chief Human Resources Officers, Department Chairs, and other leaders throughout Penn Medicine to support the design, development, implementation, and measurement of high-priority health system initiatives. This senior consultant should have a strong portfolio of organizational development initiatives, the confidence and skills to and work with senior leaders, and the humility to be a team contributor.
Accountabilities:
Consults on and leads concurrent key projects of varying scopes to identify, design, and facilitate improvement initiatives at the system and entity level across our change management, performance improvement, strategic planning, and teaming performance service areas
Advise senior executives, department chairs, hospital leadership, and HR partners to practically asses needs, develop projects and improve the performance and decision-making of leaders, teams, and organizations
Develops consulting deliverables that effectively and concisely communicate critical insights and recommendations
Designs and facilitates highly engaging retreats and client events for team development, change planning, performance improvement and strategic planning.
Partners with and coach’s leaders on system-wide changes to develop strategies that address organizational needs
Plans and delivers consulting services to develop strategic plans that bridge the strategy-implementation gap and deliver sustainable success for departments, divisions, and centers
Manages complex inter-group dynamics with ease and leverages team assessments and tools to enhance team effectiveness
Values learning and integrating new ideas to solve problems and enriches department and team development
Designs and deploys tools that scale our ability to support leaders and teams throughout the health system.
Partners with other experts within Penn Medicine Academy to provide high-quality interventions in support of complex organizational development initiatives, e.g., Leadership Development, Learning Solutions, etc.,
Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity and health system.
Certifications:
- Certification in organizational development program or assessment tools (Preferred)
Education:
Master's Degree and Business Administration or Health Care preferred (Required)
OR 7+ years of change management and process improvement experience, with experience in the healthcare sector or health care systems sector highly preferred.
3+ years external consulting experience is strongly preferred
