Position Summary: The Associate Director of Clinical Practice (Early and Elementary Education and Special Education) oversees the field-based teacher development programming for the Early and Elementary Education and Special Education programs, including undergraduate and graduate early/elementary education and special education student teaching and residency programming.  In collaboration with faculty and the Office of Field Placement, the Associate Director will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising coaches and mentor teachers to support pre-service teachers in early/elementary education and special education.  Additionally, the Associate Director will be responsible for leading the development and on-going management of all aspects of the year-long student teaching program. These include but are not limited to building and/or maintaining existing external partnerships, funding opportunities, research/evaluation systems, and coordination with program faculty teaching courses concurrent with student teaching, articulation of other fieldwork/practicum leading to student teaching, and internal collaborations necessary to provide a high-quality clinical practice experience for Temple's early/elementary education and special education pre-service teachers. Required Education & Experience: Bachelors degree and 4 years of directly related experience working in schools or in the field of education. Must include teaching experience and/or teacher leadership experience and expertise in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and/or special education. Experience in developing and leading mentor and coach training programming. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: *Strong technology/computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, database maintenance and social media *Demonstrated success supervising and mentoring adults *Awareness of and comfort with issues of diversity, specifically around race, class, and gender, as well as an ability to easily engage in and facilitate discussions about diversity without unduly focusing on them *Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to move within diverse communities and environments with ease and confidence *Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility to take on new responsibilities as they arise, and ability to multi-task *Ability to work under pressure to meet goals and deadlines both independently and cooperatively *Ability to demonstrate passion and commitment to promoting education reform agenda *Ability to develop innovative professional development programs for instructional staff and administrators in pk-12 schools *Excellent skills in analyzing and solving problems *Ability to collaborate with multiple partners and navigate varying interests *Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, administrators and external stakeholders. *Ability to travel to schools in Philadelphia for school site visits; some locations may not be accessible by public transportation. Preferred: *Master's degree in education *Ph.D. or Ed.D. in related field *Experience in an urban public school, with a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges within that dynamic environment This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service. This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
