Job Description

School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Project Administrator will serve as a liaison between the university, MSW students, faculty, and the SBMH partner agencies. This person will recruit students for the cohort, coordinate efforts to revise the MSW curriculum, convene meetings with community partners, assist with the creation and dissemination of marketing and training materials, nurture existing and expand school-based practicum placement opportunities for SBMH students, mentor students, assist with SBMH evaluation and report writing, and support students' professional development (including training, seeking employment, and applying for licensure).

Miami University's Family Science and Social Department recently received a five-year federal grant from the US Department of Education to recruit, train, and graduate Master's level graduate social work students (MSWs) to serve as SBMH service professionals in high-need school districts throughout southwest Ohio. Specialized curriculum, training on inclusive evidence-based practices, mentoring, and financial incentives enable MSW students to provide mental health services in a systematic and equitable manner, while alleviating financial burdens and excessive school loan debt. This grant provides funding for marketing and recruitment efforts, resources to alleviate financial barriers for participating students, and staffing for program implementation.
