Performs multiple job functions within the Direct Embroidery area including but not limited to: Direct Embroidery Operation, Induction, Strapping, and Training. Utility Operator will fill in when and where required as directed by Supervision/Management. Utility is an hourly, incentive position.

Job will require participation and compliance to all policies and procedures related to ISO (quality) and safety. Functions of this position may require occasional internet access and regular use of UniFirst Email. This will require review and acceptance of UniFirst’s Electronic Record Retention and Internet Policy; Understanding and compliance with the Company’s Statement of Corporate Policy and Code of Conduct (The Code of Conduct) as well as the Electronic Records Retention Policy and Electronic Records Usage Guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs functions and operates various machinery in the Direct Embroidery area as directed by the Supervisor or Lead.

  • Requires cross-training and proficiency in all Direct Embroidery operations

  • Responsible for accurate record keeping, including entering applicable clock codes as directed by Supervisor or Lead

  • Responsible for performing administrative or service functions in the Direct Embroidery area as directed by Supervisor or Lead

  • Reports any machine or process deficiencies or malfunctions to Supervisor or Lead

  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area at all times

  • Performs all functions in a safe manner in accordance with departmental, facility, and corporate requirements

  • May be required to perform functions in other production areas on a temporary basis as required

  • May be required to cross-train in other production or distribution areas

  • May be required to train new employees and provide feedback to Supervisor on trainee progress

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  • One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, to comprehend and write general business correspondence, interpret internal production documentation, equipment manuals, technical bulletins, container labels, SDS, training documentation, procedures, and other written internal documentation. Ability to communicate and respond to questions from management and other staff members.

  • Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and interpreting bar graphs and charts.

  • Computer Literacy

  • Proficiency with basic desktop PC functions, including typing, mouse usage, navigating software such as DCMS/AS400

  • Other Skills

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills are required. Capability of retaining techniques and skills taught and applying those skills to the appropriate job is required.

  • Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk; bend at the waist; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. This job requires extended periods viewing a computer screen.   • This function is typically performed in an office or desk within the production area.

  • This will require sitting, standing, walking, or performing other functions on the Production floor at 1-2 hour intervals. Employee will be exposed to moderate to loud noise on a regular basis. May be occasionally exposed to fumes when traveling through or working in other areas. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) may be required when working in or traveling through other designated work areas. PPE requirements are posted throughout the work area.
