Optiv Principal Consultant - Application Security | Remote, CAN in Ottawa, Ontario

This position will be fully remote and can be hired anywhere in the continental U.S.

The Principal Consultant will be pivotal to problem definition and discovery of the overall solution and guide teams on project processes, deliverables. A Principal Consultant is the top technical and consultative resource on the Application Security team and an expert tester capable of performing complex assessments while maintaining a business focus and meeting client requirements. This position will work both independently and as part of a team to perform security assessments including: web application assessments, mobile application assessments, source code review, threat models and SDLC workshops tests. A Principal Consultant also contributes to the development and continuous improvement of the Application Security practice through various team and industry contributions.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Work with customers to help them articulate their business requirements and how those requirements translate into security features and functionality.

  • Architect solutions to ensure that the customer's risk transformation requirements are met.

  • This position will work both independently and as part of a team to perform security assessments including: web application assessments, mobile application assessments, source code review, threat models and SDLC workshops tests.

  • Assist with development of cyber engagement plans for customers which will enable them to execute upon strategies.

  • Rationalize different security solutions against requirements, risk, and constraints.

  • Recognized expert across multiple solution areas.

  • Able to deliver and lead other consultants in complex projects.

  • Able to present to large groups. Speaks as an authority.

  • Lead day-to-day billable operations within various client projects; including:

  • Performing vulnerability assessments and penetration tests

  • Create and contribute to project reports

  • Provide clients tactical and strategic guidance aimed at helping achieve project goals and mature security postures

  • Can modify and change methodologies as required.

  • Broad awareness of the security/ technology space as a whole.

  • Contributor to industry groups and/or publications.

  • Serve as a mentor and assist team members in answering procedural and technical questions.

  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement and assist in the development and roll-out of new consulting methods and tools.

  • Assist Sales in client scoping and the development of project change orders.

  • Identify up-selling opportunities within client accounts and communicate those opportunities to the Sales team.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and approximately 10-15 years of related work experience.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of Information Security experience required.

  • Ability to convey complex technical security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences including executives.

  • Expert tester capable of performing complex assessments while maintaining a business focus and meeting client requirements.

  • Ability to work both independently as well as on teams.

  • Proven ability to review and revise reports written by peers.

  • OSCP, OSCE, GIAC, CISSP certifications strongly preferred.

  • Willingness to travel to meet client needs.

  • Valid driver's license and a valid passport required.

  • Strong written and presentational skills; ability to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences.

  • Possess high standard of integrity and confidentiality.
